Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, SLS in short is a chemical that is used in a number of products that people use on daily basis, for instance cosmetics, grooming products, personal care products and cleaning products. Also called sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium dodecyl sulphate, this chemical mainly used as a cleansing and foaming agent can efficiently clean dirt and stains. That is why it is also used in industrial products, like car wash products. This chemical is extracted from coconut and/or palm kernel oil. Many use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate as fat emulsifier and wetting agent. Apart from over the counter products, it is added into mixture and other products. The chemical formula of this chemical is C12H25NaO4S.
